ECG was Sylvania's replacement line, taken into North American Philips and sold as Philips ECG, so an ECG number is a service cross-reference rather than a JEDEC type. The old title said NPN. Which is it?
PNP. The bag label in the photos reads PNP-SI on its first specification line, and published NTE-lineage data for ECG159 agrees; the same label lists it as the complement to the ECG 123AP, which is the NPN half of that pair. The NPN in the old title was a lister's slip, and this page follows the label. Pinout on that label is E B C, left to right, and on the piece we photographed the leads are still in the kraft paper tape they were packed in.
