National Semiconductor Parts
National Semiconductor was one of the great analog houses: op amps, comparators, voltage regulators and references, plus CMOS and 74-series logic and discrete transistors. Texas Instruments bought National in 2011, and many LM-numbered parts carried on under TI, but the original National-marked parts are what restorers and repair techs look for when they want to match a board as built.
How to spot one: National parts carry an "N" logo and part numbers such as LM, LF, LMC, DM74 and MM74. The suffix gives the package (N for plastic DIP, M for SOIC, T for TO-220, H for a small metal can, K for a TO-3 can).
