If you are reading this, you probably saw one of our giveaways.
Every so often PartsMine gives away free stuff, usually store credit. (For the nitpickers: store credit has no cash value. It buys parts, not lunch.) These rules cover every PartsMine giveaway. The details for each one (dates, prize, and what to comment) are in its post. The legal part follows, in words as plain as the law allows.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. Sponsor
PartsMine giveaways (each a "Giveaway") are sponsored by Obtainium LLC, operator of PartsMine.com, 209 E. 37th St, Garden City, ID 83714 ("Sponsor").
2. Not affiliated with Meta, Facebook, Instagram, or any other platform
Giveaways are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any other social media platform, website, or service where a Giveaway is posted or shared. By entering, each entrant gives a complete release of each of them from any and all liability connected to the Giveaway. Questions or complaints about a Giveaway go to Sponsor, not to any platform.
3. How these rules work
These Official Rules apply to every Giveaway. Each Giveaway is announced in an official post on one or more of PartsMine's official social media accounts (the "Official Post"). The Official Post states that Giveaway's start and end date and time, prize, prize value, number of winners, and entry prompt. Those details are part of these rules for that Giveaway and are also listed in the table in section 14. If anything in an Official Post conflicts with these rules, these rules control.
4. Who can enter
Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and can receive U.S. Postal Service mail at a U.S. address. Employees, contractors, and agents of Sponsor (including anyone who helps run or promote a Giveaway), and members of their immediate families and households, are not eligible.
5. When
Each Giveaway runs from the start date and time to the end date and time stated in its Official Post and in section 14 (the "Giveaway Period"). All times are Mountain Time. Sponsor's clock is the official clock. Comments left before or after the Giveaway Period do not count.
6. How to enter
During the Giveaway Period, leave a comment on the Official Post that answers the question or prompt in that post. Have fun with it. We read every one.
Photos are welcome but never required. Judges consider everything in your entry, including any photo. Some platforms do not allow photos in comments (Instagram, for one), so if you have a good picture, enter where it can be seen. No picture? Words win too. Prose, a limerick, or a scary, scary tale all count.
You do not need to share the post, tag anyone, or follow any account to enter.
Limit one (1) entry per person per Giveaway, no matter how many comments you leave or which platform you use. Extra comments are welcome for the fun of it but count as one entry.
Your entry must be your own original comment and, if included, your own photo. Entries that are offensive, unlawful, infringe on someone else's rights, or come from fake or automated accounts will be disqualified. Your comment must be visible to Sponsor on the Official Post to count.
7. How winners are picked
This is a contest, not a lottery. Luck has nothing to do with it. After the Giveaway Period ends, judges read every eligible entry and pick the one that best delivers on entertainment value, educational value, or social value. In plain words: it taught us something, it will make a fellow tinkerer feel a little less alone at the bench, or it just made us guffaw, groan, or shake our heads in disbelief.
Judges are Sponsor's owner and staff, plus the occasional guest judge. However a guest judge is recruited, Sponsor considers every judge qualified to tell a blown capacitor from a burnt resistor. Winners are picked within seven (7) days after the Giveaway Period ends. If the judges cannot choose between entries, the earlier comment wins. Judges' decisions are final.
8. How winners are notified
A potential winner will be notified by a reply to their comment and/or a direct message from an official PartsMine social media account. The potential winner must respond within seventy-two (72) hours with their name and an email address for prize delivery. If the potential winner does not respond in time, is found ineligible, or does not comply with these rules, Sponsor may award the prize to the next-best entry as chosen by the judges.
Watch out for impostors. PartsMine will only contact winners from its official accounts, will never ask for payment, a credit card, a password, or banking information, and will never ask a winner to click a link to "claim" a prize.
9. Prizes
Each Giveaway's prize and its approximate retail value are stated in its Official Post and in section 14. Unless the Official Post says otherwise, prizes are PartsMine.com digital gift certificate codes delivered by email, and these terms apply:
- Redeemable only on PartsMine.com.
- Promotional gift certificates expire one (1) year from the date they are issued, and the expiration date will appear with the code.
- No cash value. Not redeemable for cash and not transferable, except where required by law.
- Any order total above the certificate balance is the winner's responsibility.
- Orders placed with a prize certificate ship only to U.S. addresses served by the U.S. Postal Service. Store shipping policies in effect on the date of the order apply. Sponsor is not responsible for delays or losses once a package is in the carrier's hands.
Put plainly: if the mail carrier can't reach you, please sit this one out. Our carriers are heroes who work six days a week and then some, but they do not deliver underwater, to the top of a tree, or to anyone whose head is permanently in the clouds.
For all prizes: no substitution except by Sponsor, who may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if necessary. Any taxes on a prize are the winner's responsibility. Limit one prize per person per Giveaway. Past winners are welcome to enter, and win, future Giveaways.
10. Using your entry
By entering, you grant Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to reproduce, display, and share your comment and any photo you include, along with your name or account handle, on PartsMine.com, ObtainSurplus.com, and Sponsor's social media, email, and promotional channels, without further notice or payment, except where prohibited by law. You confirm that the comment and any photo are your own and that you have the right to share them. Sponsor will make a reasonable effort to ask before featuring a photo.
A winner's first name or account handle may be announced publicly, except where prohibited by law.
11. Release and limits of liability
By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Facebook, Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc., and any other platform where a Giveaway is posted, and their officers, employees, and agents, from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your participation in a Giveaway or your acceptance or use of a prize. Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, hidden, or not visible due to platform settings, technical problems, or comment filtering.
12. General conditions
Sponsor may disqualify anyone who tampers with a Giveaway, enters through fake or multiple accounts, or violates these rules. If a Giveaway cannot run as planned because of fraud, technical failure, or any cause beyond Sponsor's control, Sponsor may cancel, suspend, or modify it, and if cancelled, may award the prize by judging the eligible entries received before the problem began. Sponsor's decisions are final. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Ada County, Idaho. Sponsor may update these rules for future Giveaways. A Giveaway already running stays under the rules as they read when it started.
13. Privacy, winners' names, and questions
Information collected from winners is used only to verify eligibility and deliver the prize, and is handled under the PartsMine Privacy Policy. Entering a Giveaway does not sign you up for PartsMine emails.
For a winner's name, check the Official Post after judging, or email hello@partsmine.com within thirty (30) days after that Giveaway ends. Questions about these rules can go to the same address or through the Talk to Us page. A real person in Garden City, Idaho answers.
