The stainless body carries scuffs, fine scratches and dulled patches across the flats, one face has a short stamped code that is only partly legible, and the green plastic handle shows moderate surface scuffs and wear, including a scratch across the indicator dial face and grime around the dial rim, with OPEN and CLOSED still readable. Both ports are the male-threaded Swagelok fitting bodies machined into the valve; the threads look clean and undamaged in the photos, and the bores show light discoloration inside. No nuts or ferrules are installed on either end, and no accessories are included. Action is smooth and the threads check out on inspection, but no pressure or leak test was performed, so the photos are the spec. Sourced from a government research facility.

The SS-4P4T is the 1/4 in. size in Swagelok's P series plug valve line: a cylindrical PTFE-coated plug that opens or closes the flow path with a 90 degree turn of the handle, in a square body barely larger than the fittings on either side of it. The front face is stamped with the Swagelok name, a flow direction arrow and the SS-4P4T part number, and the SS prefix designates the 316 stainless steel body and plug called out in our listing data. Both ends are 1/4 in. Swagelok tube fitting connections, with the male fitting-body thread machined into the valve itself and SWAGELOK stamped on one of the two stubs, so a 1/4 in. Swagelok nut with front and back ferrules makes the tubing connection; those nuts and ferrules are not included here. The previous listing recorded a 3000 psig rating, a service range of -10°F to 400°F, a Cv of 0.6 and a 0.172 in. orifice for this valve. Will this connect straight to 1/4 in. tubing?
The ends are 1/4 in. Swagelok tube fitting bodies machined into the valve, so you add a 1/4 in. Swagelok nut with a front and back ferrule set to land the tubing. Those parts are not included with this valve. If your line runs NPT instead, you will need an adapter fitting.
Has the valve been tested?
Not under pressure. The handle action is smooth and the threads check out on inspection, but no pressure test, leak test or flow test was performed. Treat the photos as the spec and prove it out in your own system before it goes into service.
Can it throttle, or is it shutoff only?
A plug valve like this one is built to sit open or closed. It will restrict flow in between, but for repeatable metering a needle valve is the right tool.
What is the code stamped on the side of the body?
One body face carries a short stamped code that is only partly legible in the photos. It reads as a manufacturing or heat code rather than a catalog number. The catalog number is the SS-4P4T marked on the front face beside the flow arrow.
