GI - General Instrument Parts
General Instrument (GI) was a major maker of rectifiers and diodes, and of ICs: its microelectronics division, creator of the PIC microcontroller, became Microchip Technology. Its power-semiconductor business became General Semiconductor, which Vishay bought in 2001, so many GI part numbers live on under the Vishay name.
GI parts on PartsMine are mostly single-phase bridge rectifiers in round WOG, DIP and flat KBL and KBU packages, plus Schottky rectifiers such as the MBR1060. When you replace a bridge, match or exceed the voltage and current ratings, then check the pin layout printed on the body: the AC (~) and the + and - pins sit in different places from one package to the next.
