Product Overview

GI DF06 Bridge Rectifier, 600 V Single Phase, Through Hole

Condition

New. The photo shows a representative unit from our stock. Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense. Online since 1999. We are here for our customers, with a no-hassle satisfaction guarantee.

Product Overview

DF005 through DF10 is a generic industry type of single phase bridge rectifier second sourced by many makers, where the trailing digits give the voltage grade, so DF06 is the 600 V step. The unit photographed here carries the older GI mark on a dark grey to charcoal moulded body, three lines reading GI, DF06 and 408M, with a minus at the upper left, a plus at the upper right and a tilde at each lower corner. Four leads stand proud of the body in two opposed pairs, bent outward for board insertion, and these go out of the Idaho warehouse sold each from a shelf count of 460.

Key Features

  • Marking read off the photographed unit: three lines, GI / DF06 / 408M, plus the corner symbols -, +, ~ and ~
  • Maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage 600 V and maximum DC blocking voltage 600 V for the DF06 grade, per Vishay General Semiconductor published DF005M thru DF10M data
  • Maximum RMS bridge input voltage 420 V, same published data
  • Average forward rectified output current 1.0 A at 40 C per the published DF06-type data. That figure is maker specific, onsemi rates its DF06S at 1.5 A, and no General Instrument datasheet was located
  • Peak forward surge current 50 A, 8.3 ms single half sine-wave, per the same published data
  • Through hole package: four leads in two opposed pairs formed for insertion, not the flat surface mount DFS body
  • No package suffix letter follows DF06 in the marking, and 408M sits on its own third line as a lot string, quoted here and not decoded
  • Verify against Vishay's published DF005M thru DF10M data before designing in.

Applications

  • Small linear supply front ends on a mains or transformer secondary
  • Repair and restoration of boards built around a four-lead DF-series bridge
  • Unregulated DC rails for relays, fans and small motors
  • Bench and prototype supplies where a compact through hole bridge saves four discrete diodes

Frequently Asked Questions

How many should I order? Order the count your build actually needs. We show 460 on the shelf, so one for a repair or a strip of them for a production run both come out of the same bin, and they are sold each rather than in a forced bag. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free on orders over $28, so small parts like this ship smartest as part of a larger order.

Which lead is which? The photographed face carries the whole pinout: the minus and plus corners are the DC output and the two tilde corners are the AC input. The Vishay datasheet for this type states polarity as marked on body, which is exactly what you are looking at. No package suffix letter and no temperature grade code appear on this unit, so if your build turns on a specific suffix, work from the symbols and the 600 V grade rather than a letter we cannot read.

Four symbols printed at the corners, a minus, a plus and two tildes, and that is the entire wiring diagram; hook it up the way the body says and let the bridge do the boring part.
