Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors can be found in UPS, inverters, boost converters, and battery chargers.
In many electronic devices, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used to smooth and buffer rectified DC voltages in power supplies and DC-DC converters. In addition, industrial power supplies use aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
Because of the anodization principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, they are polarized capacitors. Their operation requires DC voltage applied with the correct polarity.
