Product Overview

The Burndy YA282TC38 is a straight barrel, two-hole compression lug sized for 4/0 AWG cable. The body is high-conductivity copper, electroplated with tin to resist corrosion and overheating at the connection. It measures 3.99 inches long and 1.01 inches wide - in the photos the lug spans right at 4 inches against our machinist ruler, with the pad a hair over 1 inch wide - with 3/8 inch stud holes on 1 inch centers and 0.41 inch from hole center to pad end. The barrel carries Burndy's purple color band and the pad is stamped PURPLE DIE 15, the color code and die index for this conductor size. Burndy builds these compression lugs to withstand current surges, extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration, and the two-hole pad resists rotation once bolted down.

Frequently Asked Questions

What crimp tooling do I need?

The barrel is printed PURPLE DIE and the pad is stamped PURPLE DIE 15 - Burndy's color code and die index for this size. Match those markings to your Burndy compression tool and die documentation before crimping.

Will it fit my pad or bus bar?

The pad takes 3/8 inch studs on 1 inch hole centers, with 0.41 inch from hole center to pad end. Check those dimensions against your drilling before ordering.

Are these actually new?

Yes. Unused, new old stock - never crimped, with the factory barrel printing intact. The tin has dulled to gray from shelf time, which is cosmetic.

Why tin plating over bare copper?

The tin electroplate resists corrosion and overheating at the connection while the copper body carries the current.

Why buy one or two lugs here instead of a contractor pack on eBay or Amazon?

Most repairs need one or two lugs, not a bag of 25. We sell the exact quantity you need, shipping is a flat $8 and free over $28, and orders leave our Idaho warehouse the same or next business day. A couple of lugs from us usually costs well under a forced-quantity pack.

Two holes instead of one, because a lug that cannot rotate is a lug that stays torqued. Crimp it, bolt it, and let it disappear into years of quiet service.
