New and unused. The sample photographed is representative of the stock on hand. The blue sleeve is clean and unmarked apart from the printing, the body reads XICON in the oval wordmark with 100 uF, 16V and 20% around the sleeve, and the black polarity band with its inset marking runs the length of the negative side. Both leads are bright and free of oxidation or solder, splayed apart where they leave the can as supplied, and the two are unequal in length in the photos. Nothing is shown here about how the pieces are packaged, so no packaging claim is made.

This is a general purpose aluminum electrolytic capacitor in the small radial can format that populates the low voltage rails of nearly every through-hole board ever built. The sleeve carries its own spec sheet: 100 uF of capacitance, a 16V working voltage and a 20% capacitance tolerance, all printed in black on the blue wrap along with the Xicon oval. It is polarized, and the photos show how you tell which way it goes in: the black stripe down one side marks the negative lead, and the positive lead is the longer of the two as supplied. Which lead is negative?

The black band down one side of the sleeve marks the negative lead, and it is clearly visible in the photos. As supplied, the positive lead is the longer of the two. Once you trim them, go by the stripe and not by length.

What temperature range is this rated for?

Not confirmed. Nothing on the body states a temperature rating, and the long-standing listing text carried a range we cannot verify against the part, so we have left it out rather than publish a figure that might belong to a different component. If your design runs hot or cold, verify the rating against the Xicon datasheet for this series before use.

Are these new or pulled from boards?

New and unused. The leads are bright and clean, with no solder, tinning residue or cut marks, which is what an unused radial part looks like and what a desoldered pull does not.

Does the 20% tolerance matter for what I am doing?

For supply filtering, bypass and decoupling, which is where most 100 uF electrolytics live, 20% is the normal grade and it will not change how the circuit behaves. If your position is a timing element where the exact capacitance sets a period, measure the piece before you commit to it or choose a tighter-tolerance type.
