Product Overview
A silicon NPN power transistor from Fairchild Semiconductor, the 80 V grade of the 2N3766 and 2N3767 pair. It handles 4 A of collector current and 25 W at a 25 C case in the compact TO-66 diamond can, a two-pin metal package that bolts to a heatsink through two holes.
Key Features
- Polarity: NPN, silicon
- VCEO: 80 V
- VCBO: 100 V
- VEBO: 6.0 V
- Collector current IC: 4.0 A
- Power dissipation: 25 W at TC 25 C
- Transition frequency fT: 10 MHz
- Package: TO-66 (JEDEC TO-213AA), two pins, two mounting holes
Applications
- Replacing a failed 2N3767 in vintage power supplies, amplifiers and test gear with a Fairchild part
- Series pass element in a linear regulator built around a heatsinked TO-66 position
- Audio driver or output stages in older solid-state amplifiers
- Switching relays, solenoids and lamps from a low-current control signal
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a 2N3767 cover a 2N3766 position?
On voltage, yes. The 2N3766 is the 60 V grade of the same pair, and the 2N3767 carries 80 V VCEO in the same TO-66 case.
Will it bolt into a TO-3 position?
No. TO-66 is the smaller diamond case, and its mounting holes sit closer together than a TO-3's, so a TO-3 heatsink drilling or insulator will not line up.
Other makers still build the 2N3767, but this one wears the Fairchild F on its cap. For a restoration where the original badge matters as much as the 80 volts, that is the detail to match.
