Product Overview
The TS line is Tepro's silicone-protected axial precision power wirewound family, a steatite or alumina core wound with copper-nickel or nickel-chrome and sealed with high-temperature silicone, per Tepro's published TS series data. The unit photographed is a black body with tapered shoulders, printed in white on four lines, TEPRO, then TS and 1W spaced apart, then 12.5, then 0.05%; the decimal point is printed out rather than swapped for a multiplier letter. Long straight silver leads run well past the body at both ends, shot against a dark speckled backdrop and held between fingers in four of the frames. No four-digit stamped code is visible in these photos. Three are on the shelf at this value, sold one at a time.
Key Features
- Body of the unit photographed printed TEPRO TS 1W with 12.5 and 0.05% beneath, giving 12.5 ohm at 0.05% tolerance
- Power: 1 W. Tepro's published TS data lists the 1 W types as TS1A covering 0.01 to 10K ohm, and TSA1 and TS1 covering 0.01 to 20K ohm
- Temperature coefficient +/-20 ppm at 10 ohm and above, the band 12.5 ohm falls in, just over the 1 to 9.9 ohm boundary (Tepro published TS data)
- 0.05% is the tightest figure in the published standard TS tolerance range, which runs 0.05% to 5% (Tepro published TS data)
- Construction: steatite or alumina core, copper-nickel or nickel-chrome winding as the resistance requires, high-temperature silicone sealant, tinned copper-weld standard terminals (Tepro published TS data)
- Rating basis characteristic U, 275 degC maximum hotspot, 0.5% maximum delta-R over 2000 h load life; the TS.5 through TS2 sizes run full power to 170 degC ambient without derating (Tepro published TS data)
- Short-time overload 5 s at 5x rated power on types of 3 W and below; dielectric strength 500 VAC on TS.125 through TS3, insulation resistance 1000 Mohm minimum (Tepro published TS data)
- Verify against Tepro's published TS series data before designing in.
Applications
- Precision shunt and sense positions in instrumentation
- Bridge circuits, calibration networks and reference dividers
- Accurate gain-setting legs in analog assemblies
- Restoration of legacy precision measurement equipment
Frequently Asked Questions
How many should I order?
Order the count the build needs. Three of this value are on the shelf, sold one at a time rather than in fixed packs, so a sense position and a spare come out of a single order. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free on orders over $28, so small parts like this ship smartest as part of a larger order.
How is a 12.5 ohm value marked on this body?
With the decimal point printed out, 12.5 on its own line above the 0.05%, and no R or K multiplier letter anywhere on the body. Tepro's published TS data lists tolerances only as percentages and publishes no letter-key for the series, so the 0.05% reads exactly as printed. At 12.5 ohm the published temperature coefficient band is the +/-20 ppm one, which begins at 10 ohm rather than the looser +/-50 ppm band below it.
Twelve and a half ohms, with the decimal point spelled out, because rounding was not what anyone wanted here.
