Maxim

Maxim Parts

Maxim Integrated Products was founded in California in 1983 by Jack Gifford and a team of analog engineers. It bought Dallas Semiconductor in 2001, which is why many Maxim parts carry DS numbers, and Analog Devices bought Maxim in 2021.

The Maxim parts here are RS-232 and RS-485 transceivers, microprocessor supervisors and reset chips, DACs, comparators, LDO and switching regulators, CMOS analog multiplexers, digital thermometers and 8051-compatible microcontrollers.

How to spot one: the last three letters of a MAX number give temperature range, package and pin count. In MAX485CPA, C is the commercial range (0 to 70°C), P is plastic DIP and A is 8 pins; an E in the first of those spots is the extended range (-40 to +85°C).
