Product Overview
Empro 500 amp precision current shunt with 100 mV full-scale output
Condition
Used, clean, and in excellent condition. The photos show bright brass end blocks stamped HA 500 100 on one side and 500AMP 100MV on the other, with the Empro logo and a 7 92 stamp - which appears to be a date stamp - on the reverse. All six resistance leaves are straight and evenly spaced with only mild patina, both large hex head current bolts and both slotted instrument screws are present with their washers, and the black molded mounting base is intact with clean slotted ears. No corrosion, no overheating discoloration.

Product Overview
The Empro HA-500-100 is a precision current shunt that converts high current into a measurable voltage: at its full rating of 500 A it drops 100 mV across a resistance of 0.0002 ohms. The ratings are stamped right into the brass end blocks, and against the millimeter ruler in our photos the mounting base measures approximately 155 mm (about 6.1 inches) long. Current enters and leaves through the large hex head bolts, while the smaller slotted screws are the millivolt sense terminals for your meter leads. Wired in series with the load and read by a millivolt meter or data acquisition input, it provides indirect current measurement for industrial monitoring, laboratory test benches, and calibration work, with both analog and digital instruments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the voltage drop across this shunt?
100 mV at its full rated current of 500 A. Both figures are stamped on the brass end block.
What is the resistance?
0.0002 ohms, which keeps energy loss low while preserving measurement accuracy.
Can it operate continuously at 500 A?
It is engineered for stable, repeatable readings under sustained high-current conditions. Apply your own derating practices per your installation requirements.
Will it work with a digital data acquisition system?
Yes. It is compatible with both analog and digital measuring instruments. Connect your instrument to the small slotted sense screws, not the current bolts.
Why buy a single shunt here instead of hunting a lot on eBay or Amazon?
You need one shunt, and we sell exactly one - no lot gambling, no mystery photos. Shipping is a flat $8 and free over $28, so this unit ships free, same or next business day from Idaho.
This shunt's whole vocabulary is two ten-thousandths of an ohm: 500 amps pass through and it answers with a calm 100 millivolts. When your meter needs the truth about a big current, this is how it hears it.
