Product Overview

Littelfuse 717H Miniature Glass Fuse, 500mA at 250V in the 5x20mm Metric Size, Sold One Fuse at a Time

Condition

New and unused, drawn from the original Littelfuse plastic fuse box shown in the photos. The narrow side label is printed 5X20MM 500MA 235. The back label reads MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, LITTELFUSE, INC., Subsidiary of Tracor, Des Plaines, IL 60016, which dates this packaging to the Tracor ownership era. The fuses were photographed inside the hazy translucent case and are seen end-on, so their glass bodies and end caps cannot be assessed from these images. The price on this listing is the price of ONE fuse. The box is photographed so you can read the original markings and confirm the size and rating; you are buying a single fuse, not the box and not its contents.

Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense.

Product Overview

This is a 5x20mm miniature glass cartridge fuse rated 500mA at 250V, sold one piece at a time out of original Littelfuse packaging, and priced per fuse rather than per pack. The 5x20mm body is the metric miniature standard, the size used in IEC-style panel fuseholders, the drawer holders built into IEC power inlets, and countless pieces of European and Asian instrumentation, test gear, and audio equipment. Half an amp is a small-signal or low-draw supply rail value, the kind of protection you find on a control transformer secondary, a bench instrument's front-end supply, or a small linear power board. One order at the quantity of one brings you one fuse; if you want a spare for the drawer, set the quantity higher at checkout and every fuse is priced the same.

Key Features

  • Part number: 717H
  • Current rating: 500mA (0.5A), printed on the box side label
  • Voltage rating: 250V
  • Body size: 5x20mm miniature glass cartridge, the metric standard size
  • Origin per the back label: made in Great Britain by Littelfuse, Inc., then a subsidiary of Tracor, Des Plaines, IL
  • Sold individually: the price shown is for one fuse, and one fuse per unit ordered is what ships
  • Blow characteristic (fast-acting or time-lag) is not stated on the photographed labeling - not confirmed, verify against the Littelfuse datasheet before use

Applications

  • Bench technician restoring a European-built signal generator or counter that takes 5x20mm fuses in its rear-panel holder
  • Audio repair shop replacing a blown low-value supply fuse in an integrated amplifier or tuner with an IEC inlet fuse drawer
  • Lab or instrument owner keeping a small spares set for a 250V rated front-panel fuseholder
  • Controls technician protecting a low-current transformer secondary or a small linear supply board

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly do I receive at this price?

One 500mA 5x20mm glass fuse. The price is per fuse, not per box and not per pack. The Littelfuse box appears in the photographs so you can read the original labels and check the size, rating, and origin for yourself; it is not the sale unit, it does not ship with the fuse, and you should not assume you receive anything else shown in the photos.

Is this a fast-acting fuse or a time-lag (slow-blow) fuse?

Not confirmed. The labeling visible in these photographs gives the size, current, and voltage, but not the blow characteristic. If your equipment specifies fast-acting or time-lag, verify against the Littelfuse datasheet for the 5x20mm 500mA type before putting it in service.

Will it fit my fuse holder?

It fits holders built for the 5x20mm metric miniature size, including most IEC-style panel holders and the fuse drawers in IEC power inlets. It will not fit a holder built for the 1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch (3AG) size, which is longer and fatter. Measure the old fuse before ordering.

What does 717H refer to?

717H is the part number this fuse is cataloged and sold under here, and it is the number to search by. The markings you can read in the photographs are the size and current printed on the box side label, 5X20MM 500MA, and the maker and origin printed on the back label. The blow characteristic is not carried by that number, so see the question above before ordering.

How many fuses do I get, and what if I need more than one?

You get one fuse. The price is per fuse, so a quantity of one puts a single 500mA 5x20mm fuse in the box; if you want two or three, raise the quantity at checkout and each one is priced the same. That is the point of buying a fuse here instead of a bag of ten or a carton of a hundred: a blown 500mA fuse is usually a one-fuse problem, and you should not have to buy fifty to fix one instrument. Take one for the repair, a second for the spares drawer, and stop there. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free once the order passes $28, so it is worth pairing a fuse with the rest of your bench list, and orders leave our Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.

Half an amp of protection, made in Great Britain for a Des Plaines company back when Littelfuse still answered to Tracor. Slide one into the holder, close the drawer, and the old instrument gets its nerve back.
