AMD Parts
AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) was founded in 1969 in Santa Clara, California, by Jerry Sanders and colleagues from Fairchild Semiconductor. Besides processors, it made memory and programmable logic: its flash memory business went into Spansion, a joint venture with Fujitsu formed in 2003, and its MACH programmable logic line went with its Vantis unit to Lattice Semiconductor in 1999.
The AMD parts here are memory and logic chips: UV EPROMs in ceramic DIPs, flash memory and MACH CMOS programmable logic devices.
A UV EPROM with a window erases under ultraviolet light and then has to be programmed with the original data before it can go back into a board.
