Product Overview
Amber Nalgene 30 mL Narrow-Mouth HDPE Bottle for Light-Sensitive Liquids
Condition
New, unused lab stock. The bottle photographed for this listing was taken from inventory and shown bare so you can read the moldings. The base is embossed HDPE NALGENE with 30mL and 1oz below it and a single-digit mold mark, and the ribbed screw closure carries the Nalgene name molded into its top face. The amber body is uniform in color with the light surface sheen and faint mold lines normal to molded polyethylene. No labels, no residue, no staining. In the rule photo the cap is unscrewed and laid beside the bottle, so no assembled height can be read from it; the bottle alone, neck threads included, reads roughly 50 mm against the millimeter rule. Sold each, and stock is 16 pieces as of this writing.

Product Overview
This is the Nalgene 02-923-5A narrow-mouth bottle in amber high-density polyethylene, 1 oz / 30 mL capacity with a 20mm screw cap opening. The amber resin is the point of the bottle: it blocks the light that degrades photosensitive reagents, standards, and stains, so the sample stays the sample. Nalgene makes these from laboratory-grade plastic for low leachables and extractables, and HDPE of this grade is generally resistant to many acids, bases, and alcohols. The narrow mouth pours a controlled stream and takes a tighter seal than a wide-mouth pot, which is why it is the shape people reach for when a small volume has to travel. The molded HDPE NALGENE marking on the base and the Nalgene closure confirm the piece in hand matches what is described here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the amber color a coating or is it in the plastic?
It is molded through the resin, not sprayed on the outside. The photographs show uniform color at the shoulder, base, and cap, and a molded-in color cannot scratch off the way a tinted finish can.
What chemicals can I put in it?
The manufacturer describes this lab-grade HDPE as resistant to many acids, bases, and alcohols, but we have not tested any specific reagent in this bottle. Check your solvent, concentration, and temperature against Nalgene's published chemical compatibility data before filling.
Can it be autoclaved, and is it sterile?
Not confirmed by us. These are supplied as new non-sterile labware and we make no autoclave or sterility claim. If your protocol requires either, verify against the manufacturer's data for this bottle and closure before use.
What cap does it take?
The bottle uses a 20mm screw cap opening and arrives with the ribbed Nalgene closure shown in the photographs. We have not fit-tested caps from other suppliers on it.
Why buy four of these here instead of a case of seventy-two?
Because most benches do not need seventy-two. These are sold each, so you take the two for a sampling run or the ten for a shelf of working standards and stop there, with no case minimum and no leftover carton under the bench. Shipping is a flat $8, free once your order passes $28, and orders leave our Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.
Amber plastic is a quiet kind of engineering - it does nothing but keep the light out, and that is exactly the job. Fill it, cap it, label it, and whatever you put inside gets to arrive as the thing you measured.
