Product Overview

MKS Series 23: A 45 Degree Elbow Made to Be Welded In and Left Alone

Condition

Unused, New Old Stock; clean and in excellent condition. In the photos the elbow is bare satin stainless carrying the fine linear grain that drawn tube brings from the mill, and no rust, pitting or scale shows on the outside or down the bore. Both ends are cut square for welding, with a bright machined edge around each face and a thin, even wall visible at the openings. No text or marking is legible anywhere on the part in these frames, so identification follows our catalog record for this part number. We hold more than one of these, so the elbow photographed is representative of the stock rather than a portrait of the individual piece that will be pulled for your order.

Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense.

Product Overview

The MKS 1002345WT200 is a 45 degree buttweld elbow from the MKS Series 23 vacuum fitting line, made in 304 stainless steel described as welded, drawn and annealed, sized 2.0 inches outside diameter with a 0.065 inch wall. It turns on a 3.0 inch bend radius, which is 1.5 times the outside diameter, and carries a 1.07 inch straight tangent on each end so there is material to align, clamp and purge before the torch comes out. There is no flange, no nut and no gasket anywhere in the design: both ends are plain weld prep, so the elbow becomes part of the tube run instead of a serviceable joint, which is the usual choice on high purity and vacuum lines where every mechanical seal is one more leak path. Heat lot, material certification and any pressure or leak rating for this specific piece are not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use. Sold each, and each order ships one elbow.

Key Features

  • Type: 45 degree elbow, buttweld ends on both sides
  • Outside diameter: 2.0 inches
  • Wall thickness: 0.065 inches
  • Material: 304 stainless steel, welded, drawn and annealed
  • Tangent length: 1.07 inches on each end
  • Bend radius: 3.0 inches, 1.5 times the outside diameter
  • Series: MKS Series 23 vacuum buttweld fittings
  • Sold each; more than one in stock, unused New Old Stock
  • Heat lot, material certification and pressure or leak rating: Not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use

Applications

  • Fab maintenance routing a 2.0 inch foreline around a frame member without taking the conductance hit of a hard 90 degree turn
  • Lab vacuum builder tying a chamber port to a pump with 2.0 inch OD tube stock and a continuous welded path
  • Weld shop or process fabricator matching an existing 304 stainless run, using the tangents for clamping and back purge
  • Research facility keeping a spare 45 on the shelf so a rebuild is not held up waiting on one fitting

Frequently Asked Questions

What does buttweld mean on this fitting?

Both ends are plain, square-cut tube ends prepared to be welded directly to 2.0 inch OD tubing. There is no flange, no nut, no O-ring and no gasket. The 1.07 inch tangent on each end gives you straight material to hold, align and purge before you strike an arc, and once it is welded in the bore runs continuous through the turn.

Will it match my tubing?

It is built for 2.0 inch outside diameter with a 0.065 inch wall, in 304 stainless described as welded, drawn and annealed. Measure your own OD and wall first, because a nominal 2 inch pipe fitting is a different animal from 2.0 inch OD tube. Heat lot and material certification are not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use.

What am I actually getting?

One 45 degree buttweld elbow, sold each. We hold more than one of these, so the elbow in the photos is representative of the stock and shows the finish and weld prep you should expect, not the individual piece that will be pulled for your order.

Why buy a single elbow here instead of chasing a surplus lot?

Because you need one turn in one line. These are sold as single fittings, and one was pulled from the shelf, photographed and described by a person who looked at it, instead of a crate of mixed weld fittings you have to sort, measure and guess at. You know the angle, the outside diameter, the wall and the finish before you commit, there is no minimum count, and nothing is left over to store. Shipping is a flat $8, free once your order passes $28, and orders leave our Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.

A 45 is the angle you reach for when a straight shot will not clear the frame and a hard 90 costs you more than it saves. Weld this one in and it becomes the quietest part of the line, the piece nobody thinks about again, which is exactly what a good vacuum joint is supposed to be.
