Product Overview
Cypress Semiconductor's CY2304NZZC-1 is a low-cost buffer that takes one clock input and drives four outputs, built to distribute high-speed clocks for PCI-X and general-purpose use. It has no PLL: the signal passes straight through at any frequency from DC to 140 MHz.
Key Features
- One input to four output buffer/driver
- Buffers all frequencies from DC to 140 MHz
- Input-to-output propagation delay 5 ns max
- Output-to-output skew under 100 ps max, 60 ps typical
- 3.3 V supply, 3.0 V to 3.6 V operating range
- 8-pin TSSOP, commercial temperature range 0 degC to +70 degC
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it have a PLL?
No. It is a straight buffer, so there is no lock time and no minimum frequency; the input reaches the four outputs within 5 ns.
Will it fit an SOIC-8 footprint?
No. It is an 8-pin TSSOP, a smaller fine-pitch body, and it needs a TSSOP-8 land pattern.
Is this the same chip as a plain CY2304?
No. The CY2304NZ is a separate device: the non-PLL four-output buffer in an 8-pin TSSOP, and the NZ in the marking is what tells it apart from the plain CY2304.
No PLL, no lock-up wait, just one clock in and four copies out, anywhere from DC to 140 MHz. When a board needs its signal shared rather than re-timed, set this small TSSOP down and let the clock go wide.
