Product Overview

CDI 315D12 Board-Mount DC/DC Converter - 12VDC In, 15VDC at 100mA Out, 24-Pin DIP Footprint

Condition

New. The photographed piece is a black molded module with the original white CDI label on top, printed with the Conversion Devices, Inc. logo, DC/DC CONVERTER, MODEL 315D12, and MADE IN USA. Pins are gold plated, straight and bright, with no solder on them and no sign of a prior board. The photographed unit carries twelve pins set in the 24-pin DIP outline. A faint light-colored mark is visible on the underside near the pin field but it is not legible in the photos, so we do not read a date or lot code from it. Case surfaces show only loose dust and lint from handling on the photo bench.

Product Overview

The CDI 315D12 is a board-mount DC/DC converter from Conversion Devices, Inc. that takes a 12VDC input, drawing 50 to 420mA depending on load, and delivers 15VDC at 100mA out. It drops into a 24-pin DIP compatible footprint, so it lands on a through-hole board the same way a wide DIP package does and needs no bracket, heatsink hardware or off-board supply. The molded block and gold-plated pins are the whole assembly - what you see in the photos is the entire part. Figures above are the ones the listing establishes; anything else you need for your design - isolation rating, ripple, efficiency, regulation, operating temperature, pinout - is not confirmed here, so check the CDI datasheet for the 315D12 before you commit a board to it.

Key Features

  • Model: CDI 315D12, marked on the factory label
  • Input: 12VDC, 50 to 420mA
  • Output: 15VDC at 100mA
  • Footprint: 24-pin DIP compatible, through-hole mount
  • Construction: molded block case with gold-plated pins
  • Label marking: Conversion Devices, Inc., DC/DC CONVERTER, MADE IN USA
  • Condition: New, 67 pieces in stock, sold each

Applications

  • Instrument technician who needs a 15V rail for an op-amp or sensor front end on a board that only carries 12V
  • Repair shop rebuilding a legacy control card where the original DIP-style converter has failed and the footprint is fixed
  • Bench engineer prototyping a small analog section and wanting the 15V supply on the board instead of on the bench
  • Maintenance buyer stocking spares for older USA-built equipment that used CDI conversion modules

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly are the input and output ratings?

12VDC in, with an input current range of 50 to 420mA, and 15VDC out at 100mA. Those are the figures this listing establishes. We do not publish efficiency, ripple or isolation numbers for it - pull the CDI datasheet for the 315D12 if your design depends on those.

Will it fit a standard DIP socket or through-hole layout?

It is 24-pin DIP compatible, so the pin field is laid out on the same grid as a wide DIP package. The photographed unit shows twelve pins fitted within that outline rather than a full 24. Confirm the pin assignment against the datasheet before you drill or solder, since not every DIP position is populated.

What comes in the package, and how is it sold?

Sold each. One CDI 315D12 module, bare, exactly as shown in the photos - no socket, no hardware, no documentation. The three photos cover the whole part: labeled top, pin field, and a scale reference.

Is the CDI label the same on every piece?

The photos are the spec for the piece photographed. Treat that unit as representative - label wear and underside markings can vary across pieces we have not individually photographed, and we do not guarantee they match.

Why buy three or four of these here instead of a bulk lot somewhere else?

Because you can take the count your board actually needs. One converter for a single repair, four for a run of instrument cards, a couple more for the spares drawer - no forced lot of 25 sitting in a bin for the next decade. With 67 on the shelf we can cover a small production run as easily as a one-off fix. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free once your order passes $28, and orders leave our Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.

Conversion Devices packed a whole 12-to-15 volt supply into a molded block that solders down like an oversized chip, and stamped MADE IN USA on the label while they were at it. Give it a board and a 12V rail, and it will hand you back the 15 volts your analog stage has been asking for.
