Product Overview

One Black Box EME1C1-005, Ready to Put a 4-20 mA Loop on the Host

Condition

This is a single unused EME1C1-005, taken out of its Black Box packaging for the camera. The side label reads 4-20mA CONVERTER, EME1C1-005, with the code EME1C1-005/07/26/11-02 under the barcode, and the Black Box product label shown on the packaging carries the same product number and the same code. The black enclosure is glossy and picks up fine surface marks in the light. A silver TESTED sticker sits on one side and a small 0034 number label sits just below the RJ-45 jack; both are visible and are left unattributed here. The green two-position plug is fitted to the module in the photos. The module is sold unused and untested. We do not power up modules like this, so the photos are the spec.

Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense.

Product Overview

The EME1C1-005 is the 4-20 mA converter from Black Box Network Services, the small module that sits between an industrial 4-20 mA current loop transmitter and an AlertWerks ServSensor monitoring host so an analog loop can be read on the sensor port. The top face is marked 4-20 mAmp Sensor and carries two indicators, a green Status LED and a red Host Connection LED, so the module reports its own state and its link to the host separately. Loop wiring lands on a green two-position screw-terminal plug that seats on the enclosure edge, where a light-colored strip behind the plug is marked minus and plus, and the host side is an RJ-45 modular jack on the front edge. The enclosure is black with a flat mounting foot and a center screw at the base. The packaging label states Made in Philippines and carries the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Supply voltage, loop powering, input scaling and supported host firmware do not appear on any surface shown in these photos: Not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use.

Key Features

  • Top face marked 4-20 mAmp Sensor, with a green Status LED and a red Host Connection LED
  • Side label reads 4-20mA CONVERTER, model EME1C1-005, code EME1C1-005/07/26/11-02
  • Green two-position screw-terminal plug for the current loop, seated over a light-colored minus and plus strip on the enclosure edge
  • RJ-45 modular jack on the front edge for the host connection
  • Black enclosure with a flat mounting foot and a center screw
  • Black Box Network Services branding on the module and on the packaging label
  • Packaging label states Made in Philippines
  • Electrical ratings, loop powering and scaling: Not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use

Applications

  • A facilities technician bringing a 4-20 mA pressure, level or flow transmitter into an existing AlertWerks environment monitoring hub instead of adding a second monitoring system
  • A data center operator who has an open sensor port and one analog instrument that has to be watched around the clock
  • A controls tech putting a known spare on the shelf so a failed monitoring point can be swapped instead of re-engineered
  • A bench setup where a 4-20 mA transmitter needs to report to a network host during testing and calibration work

Frequently Asked Questions

What is actually printed on this unit?

The top face reads 4-20 mAmp Sensor with Status and Host Connection indicators and the Black Box Network Services logo. The side label reads 4-20mA CONVERTER, EME1C1-005, with a barcode and the code EME1C1-005/07/26/11-02 below it. The packaging label repeats Product: EME1C1-005 and the same code, and adds Made in Philippines.

Does a cable or a sensor come with it?

No. The photos show the converter and the green two-position plug fitted to it. No RJ-45 cable, no 4-20 mA transmitter and no power supply appear with it, and nothing else is included.

What does the RJ-45 jack connect to?

It is the host side, marked Host Connection on the module. Black Box supplied this converter for its AlertWerks ServSensor environment monitoring hubs, which read sensors over RJ-45 ports. Which specific hub models and firmware revisions accept it is Not confirmed - verify against the datasheet before use.

Can I mount it in a cabinet?

The base has a flat mounting foot with a center screw and a tab on each side, which is what the photos show. No hardware, bracket kit or DIN adapter is included beyond what is in the frame.

It is untested. What am I actually getting?

You are getting this exact photographed module, unused stock, sold untested because we do not power up monitoring modules on the bench. Every marking we can read is in the photos and quoted above, the label code on the module matches the code on its Black Box packaging label, and the photos are the spec. That is a different proposition than an unphotographed lot pull, and it is why the description stays this literal. This item clears our free shipping line on its own, and orders leave the Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.

A 4-20 mA loop is one of the oldest languages still spoken on a plant floor, and this is the small black translator that lets a monitoring host hear it. Land the transmitter on the green plug, run the cable to the host, and the gauge two rooms away starts reporting for itself.
