The flat face of the photographed black TO-92 body is marked in three lines: the National Semiconductor script N logo followed by 524, then PN, then 2222A. PN is the prefix that marks the TO-92 plastic version of the 2222A - the SOT-23 part is MMBT2222A and the SOT-223 part is PZT2222A - and the first line is the maker's logo plus a lot or date code rather than part of the type number.
