Product Overview

Ten Unused Sylvania 28ESB Panel Lamps, 28V 0.4A with T-2 Glass and a Flat Slide Base

Condition

Unused, New Old Stock; clean and in excellent condition. Under the camera the glass envelopes are clear with no darkening or burn marks, the coiled filaments are visible through the glass, and the flat metal slide bases carry the stamped marking "28 ESB" legible above the black insulating wedge. Several of the silver blades do show dark speckling and gray mottling, and one lamp has a little brownish discoloration where the glass meets the base - storage spotting on stock that sat, not signs of service. The lamps are supplied loose in a clear poly bag, as shown in the photos. This is a 10-pack, and stock is limited to what is on the shelf.

Product Overview

The Sylvania 28ESB is a miniature incandescent lamp built for 28V circuits, rated at 0.4A (400 mA) with a 6,000 hour average life. The envelope is a small T-2 tubular glass bulb; the base is the flat Telephone Slide Base #5 style, which in these photos reads as a rectangular metal blade stamped "28 ESB" with a black insulating wedge at the tip. Lamps of this pattern were the standard light source behind panel legends, indicator windows, and instrument faces in control and telecom gear built long before LED replacements existed. In a market where filament miniatures are nearly extinct, a bag of ten unused ones is the practical way to keep a legacy panel lit. This listing is for the 10-pack shown.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the base look like, and will it fit my socket?

It is the flat Telephone Slide Base #5: a rectangular metal blade with a black insulating wedge at the tip, clearly visible in the photos. It slides into a matching flat-blade lamp socket rather than twisting in. Compare the base in the photos to the lamp you are replacing before ordering.

What markings are on these lamps?

The metal bases are stamped "28 ESB" and nothing else is legible in the photos. Miniature lamps of this type usually carry only the lamp number, not a printed brand name, so the stamp is what identifies them.

Are the lamps individually tested?

No. They are graded on physical condition as unused old stock: clear glass, intact-looking filaments, legible base stamps. Treat the 28V 0.4A rating as the published lamp data and confirm it against your equipment documentation before installing.

What exactly ships, and how is it packed?

You get ten Sylvania 28ESB lamps, loose in a clear poly bag exactly as photographed. Small glass lamps get packed with padding so they arrive whole.

Why buy a single 10-pack here instead of a bulk case lot?

Because a panel usually needs a few lamps, not a few hundred. PartsMine sells the exact quantity you need, one or two pieces for a repair or prototype, instead of forcing a lot of 10 or 50 on you. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free over $28, and orders leave Idaho the same or next business day.

Filament lamps like the 28ESB spent decades glowing quietly behind panel legends in gear built before anyone thought to put an LED there. Ten unused ones in a bag is a small stack of spares for a machine that still wants its original light.
