Product Overview

Murrelektronik MOSA M8 straight male connector (part number 7000-08341-0000000) provides field-wireable termination for industrial sensor and automation cabling. Built with insulation displacement connection (IDC) technology, it enables fast field termination on 4-wire cables without stripping conductor insulation. The threaded M8 coupling nut provides a secure, vibration-resistant lock rated to IP67 when mated.

Key Features

  • Termination type: Insulation displacement connection (IDC / HARAX)
  • Form factor: Straight male M8 (axial)
  • Number of poles: 4-pole
  • Working voltage: 32 V AC/DC maximum
  • Current rating: 4 A maximum per contact
  • Conductor cross-section: 0.25 mm² to 0.5 mm²
  • Conductor insulation outer diameter: 1.2 mm to 1.6 mm
  • Cable outer jacket clamping diameter: 4.0 mm to 5.1 mm
  • Ingress protection: IP67 when fully assembled and mated
  • Coupling mechanism: M8 x 1 threaded knurled coupling nut

Applications

  • Replacing damaged connector heads on industrial sensors, photoeyes, and limit switches directly on the machine.
  • Building custom-length extension cables and harnesses for automation panels and pneumatic valve manifolds.
  • Wiring robotics and microcontroller sensor networks without specialized crimp tooling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the individual wire conductors need to be stripped before insertion?

No. The internal insulation displacement contacts cut through the wire insulation during shell assembly. The outer cable jacket must be stripped back 15 to 20 mm, but individual wire insulation remains intact.

Can this connector be rewired if cable servicing is needed?

Yes. The termination mechanism supports up to 10 reconnections on the same wire gauge. When rewiring, cut off the previously pierced wire ends and strip a fresh section of jacket.

How do you identify correct pin orientation during assembly?

The internal splicing element features color-coded guides (grey for male pin positions) to index and align the individual wires before pressing the body together.

Field wireables exist for the moment a machine stops and hauling a soldering iron out to the line makes no sense. Cut the cable clean, press the wires home, thread the shell down, and get back to work.
