The 2N5087 is the PNP silicon small-signal member of the classic 2N5086 through 2N5089 low-noise audio family, the PNP counterpart to the NPN 2N5088 and 2N5089 that turn up in preamp front ends, microphone stages and discrete gain blocks. This is an older flat-package version with gold-plated leads rather than the tinned TO-92 you get from a modern reel, which is why it reads as vintage stock on the bench.
