Product Overview
International Light IL1400A Radiometer Photometer, Meter Only, QEA Badged
Condition
Used. The photographed unit is a handheld IL1400A in a black textured case with molded corner bumpers and a cream front panel. The panel shows scuffs and fine scratches around the button cluster and across the lower half, and the printing stays fully legible: FACE UP OR DOWN DETECTOR arrows at the top, RADIOMETER/PHOTOMETER over the two-line LCD, the blue International Light diamond, ZERO with its nulling legend, and SIGNAL, INTEGRATE, HOLD and ON/OFF rockers beside MODEL IL1400A. A QEA badge plate and the 0-1 V OUT jack sit along the bottom edge. In one photo the display is lit and reading SHUT POWER OFF PLUG DETECTOR IN, so the meter powered up when it was photographed. The top edge carries the detector connection, a gold card-edge that protrudes out of a slot in the case, clean and with nothing attached in the photos. The back has two labels: a QEA plate reading Quality Engineering Associates, Inc., 25 Adams Street, Burlington MA 01803, Radiometer-Photometer, Model 1400A, S/N 2093, MADE IN U.S.A., and an International Light Newburyport, Massachusetts label with Serial No. 2093 and Model No. IL1400 written in by hand. An Archer 9V battery eliminator, Cat. No. 273-1552, 120 V AC in and 9 V DC out, is staged next to the meter in several photos. No detector is included.

Product Overview
The IL1400A is a portable radiometer and photometer that reads both instantaneous light level and integrated dose, built to work with International Light smart detectors that carry their own calibration data so the meter recognizes the head when it is plugged in. It covers UV, visible and IR work depending on which detector you attach, with a specified dynamic range of 100 pA to 350 microamps and integration runs of up to 24 hours. This particular unit is dual badged: the front panel and the rear QEA plate read MODEL IL1400A and Model 1400A, and a separate International Light label from Newburyport, Massachusetts carries the same serial, 2093, with IL1400 hand written in the model field. The back plate reads MADE IN U.S.A. The detector connection is a gold card-edge connector that protrudes from a slot in the top edge of the case, and nothing is attached to it here. This listing is the meter only - no detector is included, so plan on pairing it with a smart detector or SED head you already own.

Applications
- UV curing technician who already owns the detector head and needs a second meter body to check lamp output at the conveyor without pulling the line meter
- Imaging or photo-process engineer running a timed exposure and wanting the integrated dose number rather than a momentary reading
- Lab or facilities group keeping an existing IL1400 setup alive, holding a spare body against the day the working one quits
- Instrument tech or restorer who wants a made-in-USA benchtop light meter to pair with a smart detector already in the drawer
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a detector come with this meter?
No. This is the meter only. The gold card-edge detector connector sticks out of the top edge with nothing attached to it, and with no detector connected the display prompts SHUT POWER OFF PLUG DETECTOR IN. You supply your own International Light smart detector or SED head.
Why does the front say QEA and the back say International Light?
Because the unit carries both. The front panel reads MODEL IL1400A with a QEA badge plate at the bottom. The back has a QEA plate for Quality Engineering Associates, Inc. of Burlington, Massachusetts, marked Model 1400A, S/N 2093, MADE IN U.S.A., and an International Light label from Newburyport, Massachusetts with the same serial, 2093, and Model No. IL1400 filled in by hand. Both labels are photographed close up so you can read them yourself.
Is the AC adapter in the photos part of the deal?
The photos show an Archer 9V battery eliminator, Cat. No. 273-1552, staged beside the meter. The listing itself covers the meter only, and the specs call for 4 x AA cells. If the adapter matters to your setup, message us before ordering and we will confirm exactly what goes in the box.
Has it been tested?
Only as far as the photos show. The display lit up and produced its detector prompt when the pictures were taken, which tells you the electronics come alive. With no detector here we could not read a light source through it, so accuracy, linearity and calibration are unverified. Treat the measurement side as untested and plan to check it against a known source or a datasheet before you trust a number.
What am I actually taking on with a used meter and no detector?
Straight answer: you get the exact unit in the photos, serial 2093, cosmetically used with panel scuffs and fine scratches, powered up for the camera and not calibration verified. No detector, no calibration paperwork. The photos are the spec here - the lit display, both rear labels, the bare gold card-edge detector connector and every scuff are shown up close, so you can judge it before you commit rather than after it lands. That is a fair trade if you already own the detector or you are keeping an IL1400 setup running; it is the wrong buy if you need a documented, in-calibration instrument. This one clears our free shipping line on its own, and orders leave the Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.
The last thing this meter had to say was SHUT POWER OFF, PLUG DETECTOR IN - a Newburyport-built instrument still politely asking for the one part it does not have. Bring the smart detector already sitting in your drawer and serial 2093 goes back to counting photons for somebody.
