Product Overview

Edmunds 5100018 Comparator Tip Set - Used .040-.080 Gaging Fingers in Original Case

Condition

This Used Edmunds 5100018 comparator tip set carries visible corrosion, and the photos are the honest record of it. One tip has a heavy patch of orange corrosion on its blade that spreads from the upper blade face down toward the stamped base. A blade edge on the set also carries rust-colored staining running most of its length, with lighter scattered staining on the surrounding flats and fine speckling near the bored ends. Both blade faces are darkened and mottled from age and handling. The stamped markings are still fully legible - both tips read EDMUNDS .040-.080 5100018, and both are also numbered 221590 - and the set ships in its original Edmunds, Farmington, Conn. wood case, which is intact with a foam-lined lid and base.

Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense.

Product Overview

The Edmunds 5100018 comparator tip set pairs two L-shaped gaging fingers ground for the .040 to .080 inch measurement range, built to extend or replace the contact tips on an Edmunds comparator. Each finger carries the EDMUNDS mark along with the .040-.080 range and 5100018 model number stamped into the base, and a stepped notch is machined into the top edge of each blade. The set is Used, with the corrosion and staining described above, and comes complete with its original Edmunds, Farmington, Conn. wood case, which has a foam-lined lid and a separate foam-lined base.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with this Edmunds 5100018 set?

You get exactly what's photographed: the matched pair of Edmunds .040-.080 comparator tips and the original wood case with foam-lined lid and base. No comparator body, stand, or indicator is included.

Will these tips fit my comparator?

These are Edmunds branded tips stamped 5100018 for the .040-.080 inch range. If your comparator was built to accept genuine Edmunds tips in this range, this pair is a direct match. If you are unsure, compare the stamped dimensions and model number against your existing tips before ordering.

How bad is the corrosion?

Look at photos 1, 3 and 5 and judge for yourself. One blade has a heavy orange corrosion patch, another blade edge is stained rust-colored, and the flats are darkened from age. We have not cleaned, polished, or otherwise reworked the tips, and we are not going to tell you what that does or does not do to a measurement - what you see in the photos is what ships.

How fast does this ship?

Most orders leave our Idaho warehouse within one business day, often the same day if you order early.

Is this set inspected or recalibrated before sale?

No. This Used Edmunds 5100018 set ships as-is based on the condition described and shown in the photos - the stamped .040-.080 range and 5100018 model number are your reference, and we have not recalibrated the tips against a certified standard. Check them against your own reference before relying on them for critical measurements. This set clears our $28 free-shipping line on its own, and it ships same or next business day from our Idaho warehouse.

Two matched tips, ground to the same .040-.080 range and stamped by the same Farmington, Connecticut maker, still travel together in their own wood case. They have some rust on them and they have earned it. Set them against your own reference and decide what they are worth to your bench.
