Product Overview
Spansion S25FL128P0XMFI001 is a 128 Mbit (16 Mbyte) serial NOR flash on a standard SPI bus, built on Spansion's 0.09 um MirrorBit process and housed in a 16-pin SO with a 300 mil body. This ordering code is the industrial-temperature, Pb-free part with uniform 64 KB sectors.
Key Features
- 128 Mbit (16 Mbyte) serial NOR flash, 256 uniform 64 KB sectors
- SPI interface: READ at 40 MHz, FAST_READ at 104 MHz
- Supply 2.7 to 3.6 V
- Industrial temperature range, -40 to +85 C
- 16-pin SO, 300 mil body, Pb-free
Applications
- Replacing the boot or configuration flash on a board laid out for a 16-pin S25FL128P
- Reading back or rewriting a 16 MB image with an SPI programmer on the bench
- Adding 16 MB of nonvolatile storage to a microcontroller project on a SOIC-16 wide-body breakout
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the chip read FL128PIF instead of the full ordering code?
The top-side marking leaves off the leading S25 and the speed, package and model codes. FL128P is the device, I is the industrial temperature range and F is the Pb-free finish.
Is the S25FL128P recommended for a fresh design?
No. It is not recommended for current or future designs, and the S25FL128S is its factory replacement.
Spansion's MirrorBit flash comes from the years when a boot loader, a splash screen and a fallback image all shared one serial chip beside the processor. Load the image on the bench programmer and seat it where the old one sat.
