Product Overview

Dremel 440 Sanding Bands, 3/8 in 60 Grit Coarse - Factory Sealed Six-Pack, Made in USA

Condition

Unused, new old stock. Genuine Dremel brand. The pack is a factory sealed clamshell blister that has never been opened, with all six bands still in the sealed tray as packed. The front card reads "440 / DREMEL / 6 Sanding Bands (60 Grit)" in English, French, and Spanish. The back panel carries the Dremel Racine WI 53406 address, "Made in USA", UPC 0 80596 00440 8, and Dremel part number 2615000440. The clear plastic shows only light handling marks from shelf storage; the abrasive bands themselves are untouched.

Product Overview

The Dremel 440 is the 3/8 in coarse sanding band, sold six to a card under Dremel part number 2615000440. Each band is an abrasive sleeve that slips over a rubber sanding drum mandrel and expands against it when the mandrel screw is tightened, giving you a small cylindrical sander for work a flat pad cannot reach. At 60 grit this is the aggressive end of the range: stock removal, paint and varnish stripping, rust knock-down, and rough shaping before you step up to a finer band. Dremel prints the use case right on the back of the card - shape wood, smooth fiberglass, sand inside curves, refinish furniture, remove rust from metal, and shape rubber surfaces. Per the original listing, these run on Dremel rotary tools as well as die grinders and rotary sanders from other manufacturers. The card contains bands only; no mandrel is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this pack include the rubber mandrel?

No. The card is labeled "6 Sanding Bands" and contains bands only. You will need a sanding drum mandrel of the matching 3/8 in size, which is not included here.

Will these work on a rotary tool that is not a Dremel?

The original listing states they can be used with Dremel power tools as well as die grinders and rotary sanders from other manufacturers. Match the 3/8 in band size to your existing drum before ordering - we have not test fit these to any specific non-Dremel tool.

How coarse is 60 grit in practice?

It is the removal grit. Use it to take material off, strip finish, or fight rust, then move to a finer band for the surface you actually want to keep. It will leave visible scratch pattern on wood and soft metal.

Is there a date code on the package?

None that we can read. The back panel shows the Racine WI address, "Made in USA", the UPC, and part number 2615000440, but no printed date code. The blister is sealed and the bands are unused.

Why buy a single sealed card here instead of a bulk lot on eBay or Amazon?

Because you probably need six bands, not sixty. We sell the exact quantity you need for one repair or one project instead of forcing a large lot. Shipping is $8 flat rate and free over $28, so a small order still lands cheaper than a forced-quantity buy, and it ships same or next business day from Idaho.

Racine, Wisconsin is printed on the back of this card, and the seal has not been broken since the day it left that line. Somewhere in your shop there is an inside curve a flat sander will never reach - these six are for that.
