Product Overview

VEECO 1760-031 Plug-In Time Delay Relay, 0.05 Second Fixed Delay, 115 VAC and 28 VDC

Condition

New old stock. It shows no signs of previous use and has been kept in optimal storage conditions. The photos show the relay in a clear poly bag, its open end folded over at the left rather than heat sealed, with the legend printed in white on the cover: KURMELEC 5DIC-1003 across the top, the contact schematic in the center, and VEECO 1760-031 below it. The cover is transparent, so the internal wiring, including yellow and blue-white leads, is visible through it. Two threaded mounting studs stand proud of the base, one at each corner. The second photo is the original blue Kurman Instruments Corp box, its end label stamped 5DIC 1003 with 25-9148-65-3 and CR2 written on by hand.

Same or next business day shipping from our Idaho warehouse. Honest pricing, no nonsense.

Product Overview

The VEECO 1760-031 is an electromagnetic time delay relay built as a single plug-in unit for continuous duty service, carrying manufacturer part number 1760-031-00 and cataloged in the federal supply system as NSN 5945-01-004-7462. It provides a fixed 0.05 second delay through one pole, double throw contacts in the momentary position, rated 2A AC/DC on a resistive load at up to 115 VAC or 28 VDC, with air arc quenching. The winding measures 13.0 kilohm and is specified for 28 VDC operation at 25 degrees C. The body measures 1.5 in x 1.5 in x 2.25 in and the cover carries the Kurmelec 5DIC-1003 legend along with a printed contact schematic, which is the fastest way to confirm you are holding the same relay your socket expects. Photo 2 shows the original blue Kurman Instruments Corp box photographed with this relay; stock is two and we have not confirmed that the second unit still has its box.

Applications

  • Depot or field technician cross-referencing NSN 5945-01-004-7462 to fill a legacy relay socket that no current catalog covers
  • Controls technician who needs a short, repeatable 0.05 second delay from a plug-in relay rather than a programmable timer block
  • Instrument restorer rebuilding a mid-century control chassis and matching the original VEECO part number instead of adapting a modern substitute
  • Maintenance shop stocking a spare for a 115 VAC or 28 VDC panel where an unplanned relay failure stops the line

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 0.05 second delay adjustable?

No. The delay is specified as fixed at 0.05 second. There is no trim pot or dial on the unit, and nothing in the photos suggests an external adjustment. If your circuit needs a settable interval, this is not the relay for it.

What are the markings KURMELEC 5DIC-1003 and 25-9148-65-3?

KURMELEC 5DIC-1003 is printed on the relay cover and 5DIC 1003 is stamped on the Kurman Instruments Corp box label, so the two agree. The 25-9148-65-3 and CR2 on the box label are handwritten, and we cannot confirm what system they belonged to. The number to order and cross-reference by is VEECO 1760-031, MPN 1760-031-00.

Can it run on 115 VAC and on 28 VDC?

The original specification lists a maximum of 115 VAC / 28 VDC with the winding rated for 28 VDC operation at 25 degrees C and contacts rated 2A AC/DC resistive. We have not bench powered these units, so treat the coil and contact ratings as published figures and verify against the datasheet before use.

What exactly ships, and is a socket included?

What you see is what ships: the relay in the clear poly bag as photographed. Photo 2 shows the original blue Kurman Instruments Corp box that came with the photographed unit, but stock is two and we cannot confirm the second unit still has its box, so treat the box as shown rather than guaranteed. No socket, no mounting hardware, and no paperwork beyond the box label shown.

Why buy this photographed unit instead of chasing a relay lot or an auction pallet?

There are two of these on the shelf and they are not a commodity part you buy by the handful. Both photos are of the actual stock, so you can read the cover legend, the contact schematic, and the box label before you commit, instead of bidding on a crate of unknown relays and hoping one of them carries 1760-031. Shipping is $8 flat, and free once your order passes $28, so anything else in the cart carries it. Orders leave the Idaho warehouse the same or next business day.

Five hundredths of a second is a delay nobody sees and a circuit never forgets, and this one has been waiting in a blue Kurman box for the socket that still needs it. Bring the panel, it will keep the timing it was built for.
