Product Overview
The HBXCAB48 is Dialight's 48 inch stainless safety cable, sold here as the factory two-cable pack that one high bay or overhead fixture needs. Each lanyard is a length of braided stainless wire rope with a swaged loop at one end and a stainless spring-gate carabiner captured at the other, so nothing has to be crimped, knotted or assembled on the lift. Stainless construction is what keeps these serviceable in damp, dusty and washdown areas where a plated steel cable would bloom rust. The included Dialight sheet is the real spec document for the pack: it carries the model number HBXCAB48, document number 9100-127-1884-99 Rev A, and the two warnings that decide whether the install is correct - both mounting tabs and both safety lanyards must be used for proper installation (if applicable), and the carabiners must not be clipped directly onto the mounting tabs or the supporting member. Frequently Asked Questions
Exactly what comes in one pack?
Two 48 inch stainless safety lanyards, each with a spring-gate carabiner already attached, plus the folded Dialight installation sheet. That is the count printed on the sheet itself: Safety Lanyard, Qty 2. Photos five and six show a full pack laid out and bagged.
Can I clip the carabiner straight onto the fixture mounting tab?
No, and the included sheet says so in its warning block: do not clip the carabiners directly onto mounting tabs or the supporting member, because the carabiner may fail and cause the fixture to fall. The same warning block reads BOTH MOUNTING TABS AND BOTH SAFETY LANYARDS MUST BE USED FOR PROPER INSTALLATION (IF APPLICABLE). Follow the Dialight sheet, not a habit from another brand's kit.
Is this a locking carabiner?
It is a plain stainless spring-gate carabiner with no screw sleeve or twist lock, which is what the close-up photo shows. If your specification calls for a locking gate, this is not that part.
What is the working load or breaking strength?
Not confirmed. No load figure is printed on the cable, the carabiner, the bag or the included sheet, and we have not tested one. Verify the rating against Dialight documentation for your fixture weight before you rely on it.
Will these fit fixtures other than Dialight high bays?
The pack is Dialight's accessory for its own fixtures, and the loop-and-carabiner arrangement is generic enough that installers use this style of lanyard on plenty of overhead equipment. We cannot confirm fit or approval on any specific non-Dialight fixture, so check your fixture's instructions and your local code before substituting.
I only need lanyards for a couple of fixtures. Do I have to buy a full carton?
No. One pack is what one fixture takes, and you buy the number of fixtures you are actually hanging - one pack for a single replacement, four for a bay, rather than a manufacturer carton that leaves the rest sitting on the shelf. Packs are unused New Old Stock, and the pack in the photos is a representative sample rather than the exact pack you receive.
