Product Overview
National Semiconductor's LM2672M-ADJ is the adjustable-output member of the LM2672 SIMPLE SWITCHER family: a 1 A step-down (buck) regulator with the power switch, 260 kHz oscillator and control loop on one die. Two feedback resistors set the output anywhere from 1.21 V to 37 V. Texas Instruments acquired National in 2011 and publishes the LM2672 today.

Applications
- Dropping a 12 V or 24 V bus to a 5 V or 3.3 V logic rail at up to 1 A without a heatsinked linear regulator
- Repairing a board that was built around the LM2672M-ADJ footprint and pinout
- Syncing several converters to one clock with the SYNC pin to keep switching noise predictable
- Maker builds that need an odd output voltage, set with two resistors on the FB pin
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the adjustable version or a fixed-output version?
Adjustable. The ADJ part sets its output with an external resistor divider into the FB pin, from 1.21 V up to 37 V. The fixed 3.3 V, 5 V and 12 V versions are separate part numbers.
What does the M in LM2672M-ADJ mean?
The package: M is the 8-pin SOIC surface-mount body. It is not a grade.
Will the LM2672M-ADJ run from a 5 V supply?
No. The input has to be 8 V to 40 V, and as a step-down regulator its output always sits below the input.
A 260 kHz buck switcher that steps a 24 V bus down to a 5 V or 3.3 V rail, set by two resistors on the FB pin. Pick the resistors; the rest of the build is yours.
