Product Overview
Single-sided copper stripboard on a phenolic (FR-1) substrate, 55mm x 95mm, 0.1" (2.54mm) hole pitch. Seventeen parallel horizontal copper tracks run the length of the board. Insert through-hole components from the top side, solder to the copper strips on the bottom, and cut tracks where needed to create isolated electrical nodes. No etching, no CAD software, no lead time - just a board and a soldering iron.
Key Features
- Dimensions: 55mm x 95mm
- Hole pitch: 0.1" (2.54mm) standard grid

- Single-sided copper cladding
- Four pre-drilled corner mounting holes for enclosure or chassis mounting
- Board markings: IC 87 on copper edge; batch code visible upper corner
- Compatible with DIP ICs, axial resistors, radial capacitors, and standard 0.1" headers
- Not compatible with SMD components without adapter boards
Applications
- Hobbyist building a custom analog audio preamp or filter circuit - lays out resistors, caps, and an op-amp DIP, solders the tracks, cuts two or three strips to isolate the feedback network, done in an afternoon
- Ham radio operator constructing a small receive audio buffer or keyer circuit without waiting on a PCB fab run
- Repair technician fabricating a one-off adapter board - pins on one end, flying leads on the other - to interface test gear with a legacy connector
- Engineering student practicing soldering and track-cutting technique as part of a circuits lab, using a standard iron and a 3mm drill bit as a spot-face cutter
- Maker building a dedicated sensor interface or power distribution tap for a microcontroller project where a breadboard is too fragile for permanent installation
Frequently Asked Questions
Will standard DIP ICs fit this board?
Yes. The 0.1" (2.54mm) hole pitch is the universal standard for through-hole DIP packages. A DIP-8, DIP-14, DIP-16, or larger IC socket drops straight in. Tracks will need to be cut between the two rows of IC leads to prevent shorting the supply rails - a 3mm drill bit or a dedicated track cutter handles that cleanly.
Is this board compatible with SMD components?
No. This is a through-hole board. SMD components require a separate SMD adapter board or a glass-epoxy SMD prototyping board.
What is the substrate material, and does it matter for my project?
The substrate is paper phenolic (FR-1), not glass-epoxy (FR-4). For low-voltage, low-frequency DC and analog circuits it performs fine. Phenolic is more brittle than FR-4 and less resistant to prolonged high heat during soldering - use a clean iron tip, work quickly, and avoid repeated re-heating of the same pad. High-frequency or high-voltage applications are not suited to this material.
Can I cut this board to a smaller size?
Yes. Phenolic cuts with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge, or with a fine-tooth saw. Score and snap works along the grain for clean straight cuts. Avoid heavy shearing forces - phenolic is brittle and can crack rather than cut cleanly under a guillotine-style cutter.
Some circuits still get their start on a piece of phenolic and a solder joint. This board does not care whether your project ends up in a vintage radio restoration or a one-off synthesizer module - it just holds the parts steady while you figure out the rest.
