The NEC PS2501-4 is a type of optocoupler, which is an electronic component that allows electrical signals to be transmitted between two circuits while isolating them from each other. It consists of an LED (light-emitting diode) and a phototransistor, which are separated by an optically opaque material.
The LED emits light when it is forward-biased, and the phototransistor detects this light and conducts current in proportion to the intensity of the light. This allows the optocoupler to transmit a signal from one circuit to the other without the two circuits being physically connected.
