Banner Engineering QS18VN6LPQ8 (part number alias 66451) is a WORLD-BEAM QS18 series polarized retroreflective photoelectric sensor. It detects objects by projecting a polarized red beam at a retroreflective target; when an object interrupts the beam, the NPN output switches. The polarized optics filter out false triggers from shiny or reflective surfaces — metallic cans, shrink-wrapped pallets, glossy packaging — that would fool a standard retroreflective sensor. The M18 threaded barrel housing mounts in tight machine spaces where larger sensors cannot fit. Connection is via 4-pin M12 Euro-style quick disconnect; a compatible cordset and a retroreflective reflector (such as the BRT-2X2) are required for operation and are not included.

This is an NPN (sinking) output sensor. It is not compatible with PLC input cards that require a PNP (sourcing) signal. If your system uses PNP logic, the correct variant is the QS18VP6LPQ8.
Does a reflector come included?
No. A retroreflective target such as the Banner BRT-2X2 must be mounted and aligned separately. This sensor cannot function in diffuse mode without a reflector.
What cable or cordset does this sensor require?
The Q8 suffix designates a 4-pin M12 Euro-style quick disconnect. A compatible M12 female cordset is required and is not included. If your machine uses an M8 connector or bare-wire termination, you will need an adapter or a different model variant.
