Product Overview
Banner's M12FTH3Q is a combined temperature and humidity sensor housed in a stainless steel M12-threaded body. It communicates over RS-485 using the Modbus RTU protocol, reporting temperature and relative humidity as discrete digital registers to any Modbus master — including Banner DXM controllers, MultiHop radios, and third-party PLCs or SCADA systems. The M12 form factor allows panel and enclosure mounting in a standard bolt hole. This is the Modbus RTU variant; the M12FTH4Q is the 1-Wire version and is not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this sensor work with 1-Wire or analog (4-20mA / 0-10V) systems?
No. The M12FTH3Q is Modbus RTU only. It will not communicate on 1-Wire networks or analog input channels. If your system uses 1-Wire serial, you need the M12FTH4Q. If your system uses analog inputs, neither variant is compatible.
What cable or cordset does this sensor require?
A 5-pin M12 female cordset (Euro-style, A-coded) is required. The sensor itself has a 5-pin M12 male quick-disconnect. Cordset is not included.
What Modbus master devices is this compatible with?
Any device acting as a Modbus master over RS-485 will work — including Banner DXM controllers, Banner MultiHop radios, and most industrial PLCs with an RS-485 Modbus RTU port. Verify your master supports the Modbus RTU register map for this sensor before ordering.
Is there anything to inspect on arrival?
Check the sintered metal filter cap at the tip of the sensor. If the mesh is crushed, deformed, or missing, the sensing element may be contaminated and readings could be inaccurate. This unit passed visual inspection with no noted issues.
